Happy New Year! Hope you CNY has been great so far. I have a good feeling about the rabbit yr given a few reasons:
1. My siblings have not experienced the saddening same experience as per last CNY day 1.
2. I managed to plan my finance properly (despite those earlier travel trips I've made) such that I CAN go for a graduation trip without parental support (like a few thousands) to somewhere called the United States.
3. I am still wanted at my present workplace for other jobs like language translation (which I offered to help, got to thank Shuyu for rejecting the offer!) from English to Chinese. I've learnt a couple of technical terms in Chinese. It's so fun! hehe!
4. Colleagues have been nice to give me ang baos. Say is a form of blessing for my whole year. My boss gave me a big one before CNY too! I greatly appreciate these little gestures. :)
5. Met up with my ex boss from the bank, who shared a lot of his life experiences with me. It gave me confidence to move on. It's crucial to take the first step! :)
6. Because of the various circumstances, my family has been more united than ever. I guess, we are just trying to protect ourselves from the hurt that our relatives might bring us
unintentionally.
With the ang bao $$ that I have gotten, I have yet again be able to clear my tuition fees debts. For 4 semesters, 3 are paid off by ang baos and the last with money from my PSEA account. Thought it would be nice to share how I could probably have survived all these financial burdens.
1. I am not a spendthrift.
Other than CNY expenses, I don't do shopping (I don't have the time to do so anyway).
2. I travel
(as in taking the plane) at least once every year.
I plan ahead and look for cheap travel deals. Sometimes, my parents provide a token sum to offset my travel expenses. Not much. :p
3. I work part-time/or to pick up holiday jobs whenever possible.
To ensure that money continues coming into my account.
4. I invest in shares in the short term.
I look at the lump sum profits other than dividends. Have earned a fair profit as of now. Could even share a Sony NEX 5 with the boy.
5. I took study loan from the bank to 'borrow' cash for investments
And I am set to return it back before the high interest rates kick start. Got to thank the economy downturn for that! :)
With school term at Week 4 right now, I have only 2+ months more to graduation. It's the job search period! Feeling lost at first, but exciting right now. I've been telling my friends, "ask yourself what do you see yourself as 5 years down the road". HAHAHAHAA. Me? An workaholic definitely! :p
