With 2013 coming to an end, have you reflected on what you have done thus far in the past year? Lets walk through my life experience in the year of 2013.. hahaha
*flips back on Jan 2013 of my diary entry*
Memories, memories! I had made 10 new year resolution last year, and amazingly I had fulfilled all 10! It has been a remarkable achievement for me! HAHAH! In this one year, I worked hard, went independent, spent more time with my family and friends, learnt ALOT of new skills, organised gatherings, saved much, and did so much better at work. Looking back, I seems to already knew that my relationship would not work out back then. One of my resolution was actually to take things easy, remained friends if possible. See how strong I am even back then! I'm impressed.
Yup, I don't deny the fact that THE BREAKUP was what actually rocked my life upside down in the year 2013. People who didn't support me when I needed most, and others who stood by me when I just needed someone to be there waking me up. Now, I have TWO EXes in life. Just two at this age. Amazing feat huh? My sales don't even believe me when I told them so. :p EX one texted me the other day if I had let go of my past. Without hesitation, I told him yes. Well, I suppose the serious of events that happened caused me to let go faster than I thought I would. It took me just a half year actually. The first three months was hard if you knew how cruelly I was treated. I suffered in silence. Nobody has to know, otherwise I would be whacked upside down for being stupid. But well, if you love someone, you no longer mind if you are just being stupid. From hurt, to worrisome, to despair, to give up. Then he came back slowly. After which came the hatred, the slow drain of trust. Once you realised how meaningless it is to hate, you gave up altogether. Yup, we are still in talking terms today. Nothing more than just new friends. I'm getting to know him all over again. How about the old him? I think he's gone. Neither do I have the feeling of loving anymore. As a matter of fact, that once familiar number is no longer on my contacts. It's amazing at how much one year can do. From a person so close to my heart, to someone who no longer matters.
I've learnt, if you don't want a person to forget you, cherish him/her. What goes around, comes around.
Years of relationship do not determine if you two should be together at the end of the day. I might have the longest relationship, but it ended up in a breakup. Incompatibility. Or whatever you account for that. For that past 7 years, I had been a bochap gf. Sad to say, even to the day of breakup, I think I only knew like.. 1/8 of his friends? I never bothered which girl he went out with, where he went. Because I trusted him. Because of trust, I chose not to make the effort to know people around him unless he chose to tell me *which didn't happen obviously*. At the end of the breakup, I realised how much I probably did not know about him, and surprised to find out about him. Given my pride, it was v hard to swallow at one point in time. Very very hard. But I survived anyhow. hehehe :) My past relationship may be rocky, we quarrelled ALOT. But there are also sweet moments I'm sure. Many of those that I can no longer remember *since I'm always a last minute random girl*. A friend told me, a relationship too smooth sailing may not be healthy either. There's no flames to keep it going, sustaining it.. Oh well, that's his personal experience.
In the year 2013, my love life is for the first time ever, a blank sheet. Nope, I have no idea what future beholds. But well, I guess it's still worthy of the wait till I meet the One guy who is meant to be. 2013 had been a year of breakup for friends around me. I had seen it in at least 8 ladies. One of them found a v v nice guy after breaking out of her v sorrowful taken-for-granted relationship. I'm so happy for her. She's such a sweet example. So there's no point for me to taking it so hard on myself. ;) On the brighter side, I have friends 3-4 years in the relationship, and getting engaged by now. So.. years in the relationship doesn't determine stability! 2014 will be a year whereby my peers start to get married.. :p
I admit that life will not be complete without a partner who would stand by you irregardless of the situation, understand you without saying much, love you wholeheartedly inclusive of your values, family and friends. But I think, the most important part of a successful relationship is trust. Without trust, people will never stop quarrelling. Everything will be just upside down. So yup, I'm still finding this One person. Clock may be ticking. I've friends panicking. But I guess for me, my life seems to have just started. It may not be a bad idea to let me go after all. I too, wanna see the world. :)
