A long overdue trip to Ah Yat Seafood last month at the Turf City.
We got to pick and choose our fresh seafood from the tank.
Drunken Prawns.
This is as crazy as 600g for two pax. Thanks to the manager's hard selling saying that the minimum purchase is 500g. Don't be conned if you ever see someone telling you the same thing. The prawns are indeed fresh. Sweet and Chewy at every bite. But 600g for two is a bit too much. That's equivalent to about 24 prawns. LOL!
Steamed Bamboo Clams.
Our favourite bamboo clams. It may cost up to $10 for one elsewhere. At ah yat that night, we had it for $4.40 each. :) It will be perfect with tanghoon on the clams.
Sambal Kailan.
At $12, it seems a little expensive at first. Given the portion, it is enough to feed a family of minimum 4. A particular food centre at Bouna Vista cost the same for a simpler stir fried kailan, but at a smaller serving. In conclusion, we thought this might be reasonable for a larger family. The vegetables might be a little too spicy for liking though.
Chili Crab.
For some reason, the crab that night was more sweet than spicy. I love it the way it is. The sauce is thick, v generous with the egg used. The crab meat isn't as good as the one that the cze char stall in my neighbourhood sells. In fact, we thought that it was pretty flaky. hmmm...
With the 50% discount on all seafood at Ah Yat, We spent about $38/pax after GST and service charge. Yes, we paid for the rice, napkins, peanuts and tea too. Going in bigger group helps lower down the cost! ;) Nevertheless, we felt v full after the dinner that night.
